Eat your heart out, Kim Jong-un.
The villagers in the Akyayla and Günindi pasture, near Karabağ village
in Kağızman district of Kars province, set out excitedly to find a meteor
that supposedly fell from the sky nearby. It turned out, though that the
'meteor' was in fact a part of a Russian intercontinental ballistic missile
(!).
Braving cold and windy weather, the villagers searched high and low
for the 'meteor', which they had heard could bring a good price from
collectors. Akyayla village chief Hamza Altay explained that "there
was a big noise after the evening prayer. I thought it was a plane but
the villagers said it was a meteor. The police called me and asked
whether a meteor had fallen. I told them I didn't see any such thing
but later it was rumored that a meteor had fallen towards Digor."
Ultimately, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the object
that landed in Kağızman district resulted from a test of the RS-12M
Topol-type intercontinental ballistic missile.

(Milliyet Newspaper, 29 September 2017)
May they now rest in peace.
The construction of the historic Alaeddin Mosque in Konya began in
the time of Seljuk Sultan Rükneddin Mesud I and was opened to
worship by Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I in 1221. The tomb in the
garden of the mosque houses the remains of Sultans Mesud I,,
Kılıçarslan II, Rükneddin Süleyman II, Giyaseddin Keyhüsrev II,
Alaeddin Keykubat I, Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev II, Kılıçarslan IV and
Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev III.
In the 1960s during the restoration of the tomb, workers took out the
bones of the Sultans from their graves beneath their cases and put the
bones in bags. Dogs entered through the airconditioning compartment,
though, and took off with some of the bones. Miraculously (!), the
bones were found in the vicinity of Alaeddin Hill.
...in happier days.
Another restoration of the mosque began in 2014 and the bones of
Sultan Kılıçarslan II and his son Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev were identified,
based on their skulls. The re-burial of the two Sultans took place on
28 July and was attended by Konya Governor Yakup Canbolat and
two AKP parliamentarians.

mysogynist see this recent TNT report for more of this mentality
Special delivery.
CHP Parliamentarian Tur Yıldız Biçer has reacted to the remarks of
preacher İhsan Şenocak who railed against women wearing jeans and
plucking their eyebrows with tweezers in a mosque the other day.
Şenocak declared that "doesn't it just tear your heart up to see your
daughter wearing jeans on the street and to school? If an 18 year-old
girl who plucks her eyebrows goes to a university in that manner
and it doesn't tear you up then you'll go to hell on Judgement Day."
Biçer said that such remarks were unacceptable and she filed a
criminal complaint against Şenocak for 'hatred and segregation',
'insulting', 'inciting the public to malice and enmity' and 'violating
the constitution'.
To emphasize her point, Biçer sent Şenocak a pair of women's jeans
and a tweezer by courier, saying "we won't tolerate those who bemoan
our girls wearing jeans but who remain silent when our children are
raped. We denounce those that think like Şenocak, who would drag
us into darkness and blacken the future for our girls. Go ahead and
wear jeans girls if you want!"
His own jeans are a bit too tight.
