In Avcılar, Istanbul, last Wednesday at about eight-thirty o'clock in the

evening Ferdi Er opened his door when he heard some noise outside. 

He was shocked to see that someone was trying to steal his bicycle,

which was chained to the iron staircase.  Er asked the robber what he

was doing and the thief said in response "I'm supposed to answer to 

you?!"  

Er approached the robber with a bat and his housemate made some

noise, as well, to scare the thief into leaving.  However (!), about an

hour later Er heard a knock on his door and the caller said "this is the

police!", so Er opened the door.  As three assailants burst into the 

house, Er and his housemate Metin Aksu fled to different rooms and 

locked the doors.

However (!), the attackers then began to kick the doors and broke a 

part of one in an effort to get to the two.  They succeeded in getting to

Aksu and hit him over the head with a metal bar.  Aksu screamed from 

the window for help and this prompted the attackers to flee.  Er, locked

in another room, was unharmed.

In Barbaros village of Kırıkhan district in Hatay province the night 

before last, two groups fought over money thrown during "halay"

dancing at a street wedding.  H.D. (17) was beaten during the fight,

went home to get a "pompalı tüfenk" (pump-action rifle) and returned

to fire randomly into the wedding crowd.  

As the result of the gunfire, Sedat Gizlenir, E.Ş. and 11-year-old K.Ş.

were hit.  Gizlenir died at the hospital.  H.D. was taken into custody.

"Beat & Release": Alleged Harasser Gets ' Me Too' Vigilantes' Beating, in Kadıköy

          One ladies' man who can't keep them away.

A group of women posted the name and photographs of Ö.Ç. (21), 

whom they accused of harassing women, and then beat the man in

public in Kadıköy, Istanbul.  

The women's group, Yıldız Technical University Solidarity, posted

the information about Ö.Ç. on social media the day before yesterday

to "out" him.  The group accused Ö.Ç. of verbal and physical sexual

harassment of women students at the university and elsewhere. 

After they beat Ö. Ç., the group posted this message: "this person is

responsible for many attacks and yesterday after an attack he made

in front of the library on the Davutpaşa campus he got his just desserts

in Kadıköy!.  We will not allow sexual attacks!"  The group added that

they will not let Ö.Ç. come to the university's campus. 

For his part, Ö.Ç. explained that "I met a girl named G.G. a while ago.

I took her picture and wanted to give it to her.  We chatted on social 

media and when she came to campus I went up to her and gave her

the pictures and a letter I wrote to her.  I approached her but I didn't

try to kiss her.  She rebuffed me so I left."  

"While I was on the metro I got a message from her, inviting me to meet 

her at a café in Kadıköy.  On my way I thought about two possibilities - 

she wanted a relationship but it was too soon, or some of her male friends 

would be there to meet and intimidate me.  When I got to the café her 

girlfriends confronted me, saying "do you admit that you harassed this 

girl?!"  I didn't answer but they went ahead and began beating me.  They 

surrounded me.  All I remember is that one of them was screaming my 

name and my school and calling me a sexual harasser.  I'm filing a 

complaint against them.  I'm not that kind of guy."  (!) 

                         Role model is Johnny Depp.

Legal experts weighed in on the matter, with lawyer Maşallah Marat

opining that the women attackers could be charged with inciting hatred

among the populace.  On the other hand, lawyer Çağla Gül Bulut said

that as long as the government doesn't protect women these kinds of 

incidents will occur and create chaos.

"Beat & Release": Meat Cleaver & Pump-action Rifle Add to Road Hazards in Turkey

              Latest episode of "Leave it to Cleaver".

In Istanbul on Sunday, 9 October, Şeymus Aykurt (45) was driving along

a street in the Yedikule neighborhood when his path was blocked by 

Iranian Ferhad Omranıfar, who had left his cart in the road while he 

searched through a garbage can.  Omranıfar stubbornly said to Aykurt

"a TIR (tractor trailer) could get by here!", which, of course, sparked

an argument between the two. 

Omranıfar took a "döner" (cleaver) knife from his cart and began to

swat Aukurt with it over and over, wounding him on his wrist.  

Omanıfar then fled but the images of the attack were recorded by a 

security camera and posted on social media.  Police then tracked

down Omranıfar and took him into custody.  He was jailed and will

be tried for the crime of "intentional wounding with a weapon", which

carries a jail sentence of from 3 to 9 years.

                            Joyride ends joylessly. 

In Samsun's İlkadım district the morning before last, R.A. (17), 

carrying a briefcase, flagged down a taxi driven by Hüseyin Tuzcu (57).

After getting into the taxi R.A. took out a "pumpalı tüfek" (pump-action

rifle) from his briefcase and made Tuzcu get out of his taxi.  Tuzcu called

the police, as R.A. made off with his vehicle. 

Police nabbed R.A. and the taxi in Canik district and seized the rifle,

which was on the front seat of the taxi.  R.A. was taken into custody and

police found repair tools, flash drives and gloves in the vehicle, prompting

surprise among the policemen. 

In any case, in his statement R.A. explained that "I just want to drive 

around and have some fun so I stole the taxi." (!)   He was jailed for 

carjacking.

                          "And Oscar wins the Oscar!"

The day before yesterday in Adana, police stopped a minibus-hearse used

for transporting dead bodies with the logo of the Istanbul municipality on 

it and discovered more than 144 kilograms of drugs, taking three people 

into custody.   The vehicle was stopped en route to Mersin along the TAG

(Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep) highway.  

Police sniffer dog "Oscar" discovered the drugs in the casket compartment

of the vehicle.  Taken into custody were driver Bünyamin S. (45) and 

Ersin E. (44). It was determined that the two had taken a dead body from

Istanbul to Diyarbakır and were bringing the drugs back with them on the 

return trip.  Their accomplice in Diyarbakır, H.K., was arrested, as well. 

"IBB", the Istanbul municipality, issued a statement saying that the 

company Platform Turizm Taşımacılık owned the vehicle and had been

taking dead bodies to their hometowns from Istanbul since 2018.  

However (!), the company issued its own statement asserting that  IBB

was responsible for the disposition of the vehicles, monitoring GPS data

and supervising the drivers, adding that it would follow the related legal

proceedings closely. 

"Beat & Release": Fatma Hanım Locked In a Tea House, in Bursa

   Cries of "Free Fatma" could be heard throughout Bursa!

The night before last at about 11 pm in the Şehabettinpaşa neighborhood 

of Osmangazi district of Bursa province,  Fatma Çevik went with her 

friends to the tea house run by Mehmet Yaşar İşleyen.  About an hour

later, Fatma hanım's friends left but she stayed and chatted with İşleyen.

At this point, İşleyan said that he was going to soup shop and locked

his own tea house with Fatma hanım still inside. (!)  When İşeyen

did not return, Fatma hanım panicked and called the police, who 

arrived to hear Fatma hanım screaming  "I can't breathe! Break

the window!"  As police tried to calm her down, they located İşleyen

and had him open the door to his tea house. 

Now free, Fatma hanım declared that she was filing a complaint

against İşleyen, who was taken into custody by police.  He asserted,

though, that Fatma hanım had remained in the tea house of her own

volition, saying to her "don't come to my place again! You're a liar!

I locked my shop so no harm would come to it.  You should have

left then but you didn't. Don't come to my place ever again!"

In response, Fatma hanım shouted "what right did you have to lock

me in?!  You should have made me leave before you locked the door!

Mehmet you are a very wrong-headed person, do you know that?!"

               Police intervened before the tea cups flew. 

"Beat & Release": He Got Out Through the Bathroom Window, in Cide

Possesses remarkable powers of persuading Gendarmerie troops.

In Kastamonu province's Cide district, Atilla Yıldırım was arrested after

being involved in a fight.  The night before last, as Yıldırım was being

transported to Kastamonu Prison by the Gendarmerie he said he was 

hungry and persuaded his guards to stop at a pide restaurant in Cide.

While eating, Yıldırım persuaded the guards to let him take a bathroom 

break.  The guards agreed but then Yıldırım jumped from the bathroom

window to the ground 4 meters below and disappeared. (!)  

The search for Yıldırım is continuing.  In this regard, Cide District

Chief Tuncay Karataş declared that "our police and Gendarmerie are

being vigilant (!) and they'll catch the fugitive very soon!" (Yıldırım

was captured a few hours later).

Good at procreating, not so good at letting moms raise the kids.

Yesterday morning in Ünye district of Ordu province, Naci Türk (38) 

entered the 1st floor flat of his estranged wife Canan Türk (36) via

the balcony.  Naci then proceeded to stab Canan hanım 6 times before

fleeing.  Hearing her cries, neighbors called the police who arrived and 

had Canan hanım, the mother of two children, taken first to Ünye State 

Hospital and then to Ordu State Hospital, where she remains in serious

condition. 

It turns out that Naci was being sought by police in connection with

the death on 11 April of Öznur Temiz, Naci's relative with whom

he was living at the time and who is also the mother of two children (!).  

Police found narctotics paraphernalia at the house.  Naci remains at 

large. 

 

 

"Beat & Release": Neighborhood Vigilantes Chain Thief to Lamppost, in Bursa

                 Chain, chain, chain...chain of a fool.

At 7 o'clock in the morning yesterday in the Küplüpınar neighborhood of 

Osmangazi district, Bursa, Rıza P. (25) was accused by six men of robbing 

homes so they beat and kicked him before tying Rıza P. to a lamppost with 

a chain (!). 

When a police unit on patrol noticed Rıza P. the six assailants fled.  

Firefighters arrived and cut the chain, freeing him from the lamppost, on

which the attackers had posted this sign: "I'm a thief and the locals have

put me in this situation."  

Rıza P. said that Küplüpınar was his old neighborhood so that's why he

was there but "they grabbed me at the corner, beat me with a chain and

brought me here.  Then they tied me to the lamppost with the chain. I

can't even walk now."  

Rıza P. was taken to a hospital for treatment.  It has been learned that 

Rıza P. has a long police record for robberies (!).  Meanwhile, the police

have begun looking for the six attackers. 

 

"Beat & Release": Back From the Dead, Flying "Healer" Expels Evil Eye With Too Tender Touch, in Tunceli

In Tunceli for about two years Hasan Vural (69) has identified himself

in this way: "I died, came back and am continually flying and expelling 

the evil eye from people.  I'm a healer."   He recently sat down next to a 

young girl on a park bench in the center of Tunceli and said to her "You

have the evil eye upon you. I will expel it."  

Vural then took the girl's hand and began to touch her neck and her waist

under her jacket, massaging it.  All of this was recorded on video by 

another person in the park.  When the images were seen by the family

of the girl, who is mentally handicapped, police were notified and Vural

was taken into custody.  He was brought into court and jailed for "sexual

exploitation".
