After Alime Ceyhan of Ankara had a sex-change operation to
become a male, her new name was Yusus Emre Ceyhan.  Ceyhan
joined the 'Medeniyet Eğitim, Dayanışma, Araştırma, İlmi and
Social Yardımlaşma Derneği (Medaris Der - Civilization Education,
Solidarity, Research, Knowledge and Social Assistance Association),
an Islamic organization, and over time became more radicallized,
joining the Al Qaida-linked Nusra Front.

In 2014 Ceyhan was caught while trying to enter Syria and entered
police records as "one of 33 possible suicide bomb candidates."
According to the latest intelligence, Ceyhan was able to enter Syria
in 2015 and died in a clash there. In a document sent to all 81 Turkish
provinces, Ceyhan was described as follows: "because of an identity
crises at a young age, Ceyhan changed sex and name from Alime to
Yunus Emre with a court decision.  Based on the identity crisis, sex
change and the company kept, Ceyhan became a possible candidate
for a suicide bomber."
