All that electric stuff would have ruined the acoustics anyway...
As the members of the President's Symphony Orchestra (CSO) await the
completion of their new building after 22 years, they've been hit with
a robbery shock. Two thieves, who lived inside the building for two
months (!), avoiding the single security guard, managed to steal all
the cables, generators and elevator motors from the building.
CSO Director Altan Kalmukoğlu stated that "Unfortunately, this unlucky
incident happened 8 months ago. There has been a 2.5 million TL loss.
Quite a bit of equipment inside the building has been stolen. Hopefully,
it won't happen again."
Security measures at the construction site were increased after the incident,
with the number of guards increased to 10.
CSO Maestro greatly discomfited by the robbery news.

Kılıçer during work hours...
In Izmir, İlker Kılıçer, who has made a name for himself as a street
mime, was fined 82 TL 5 years ago for making too much noise (!).
Police fined Kılıçer because the music he was using as part of
his performance was too loud.
Kılıçer, though, refused to pay the fine in protest so the Karşıyaka
mayor at the time, Cevat Durak, ordered that Kılıçer's property be
seized. An outraged Kılıçer opined that "only art can warm the streets,
sidewalks and concrete coldness. I'm representing my country and
Izmir at many international festivals. I'm going to India and I've
been invited to Russia and Hungary. Instead of fining us they should
be supporting us!"
The new Karşıyaka mayor, Hüseyin Mutlu Akpınar, has put a stop
to the seizure of Kılıçer's property, which had been initiated by his
predecessor. Akpınar declared that "as soon as I heard about the
debt owned by our artist friend I stopped the seizure. I'll pay the
fine myself."
...and during his liesure hours.
