Ministry official accepts winnings, although declared sinful.
The Turkish National Lottery's New Years drawing will pay out 61
million TL (about $15 million) to the winner but Turkey's Ministry
of Religious Affairs has just issued a ruling insisting that "buying
a lottery ticket is gambling and is forbidden." (!)
Nevertheless, the Religious Ministry reaps 255,000 TL per year
from the interest (also forbidden by Islam) of the lottery money.
You gotta play to win, but at the risk of your soul.
