Roy Moore Has a New Chance in Hatay

Kavillioğlu lays groundwork for Moore's campaign in Hatay,
which, coincidentally, is Turkey's southernmost state...
The provincial "müfti" (official expounder of Islamic law) in Hatay
province, Hamdi Kavillioğlu, gave a speech to parents at the Narlıca
Hz. Ayşe Girls Anatolian İmam Hatip (religious) High School and
encouraged the parents to marry their daughters off when they reach
puberty. According to Kavillioğlu, as Moslems parents have the right
to 'give their children a nice name', 'provide them with a good education',
'behave well toward their children' and 'marry them off when they reach
puberty'.
...and it's red, too.
Kavillioğlu asserted that parents' right to marry off their teenage children
is ordered in the Koran and by the Prophet Muhammed. Once Kavillioğlu's
words were reflected in the press, though, they were erased from his office's
official web page. A new announcement from Kavillioğlu's office
confirmed his words but pointed out that he had not specified any
particular age for marriage. (!)
May have to switch holy books though.
