The loveable center of attention.
In Trabzon, Osman Demir found a Kangal dog in front of his house
and took the animal in. The resulting "Kangal fight" began in the
Kaşüstü neighborhood a year ago. Demir began looking after the
dog, which he assumed to be ownerless, and even tried to find out
who the owner might be, having it announced from the local
mosque.
At this point, Deniz E. appeared on the scene to declare that he was
the rightful owner of the dog. Demir, though, didn't believe this and
an argument started. Subsequently, Deniz E. spray-painted Demir's
car and scratched it, as well, breaking the car's windows and slashing
the tires.
Faced with this onslaught, Demir was willing to give up the dog but
Deniz E. wanted 5,000 TL, too, asserting that Demir had kidnapped
the dog. Demir resisted and filed a complaint with police, noting
that his car had been damaged to the tune of 17,000 TL. Public
prosecutor Dilek Öner filed a case against Deniz E. for "damage to
property, insults and threats", which carried a jail sentence of from
1 to 7 years.
