Alphabet Soup Gang Can't Spell 'Friend'

T.D.'s 'close friends', victims Melek and Fatma Vonel.

In İzmit, Kocaeli province, two masked individuals posing as
cargo delivery men, entered the home of Melek Vonal (66),
beat her, put a knife to her throat, tied her up and stole all her
jewelry.  Police reviewed MOBESE (street surveillance video)
and determined that the suspects had come to İzmit from Istanbul.
The robbers waited for Vonal's daughter Fatma Vonel to leave the
house before they knocked on the door.


    T.D. hoping to find new friends in jail.

Police subsequently detained S.T. (21), K.T. (47), A.Y. (42), A.Y.
(22) and H.K. (48) in Başakşehir, Istanbul.  A.Y. and H.K. were
arrested and the others were released under judicial supervision.
As the investigation proceeded, police captured the gang leader
T.D. (36) in Küçükçekmece, as well as gang members B.A. (29),
İ.Y. (35) and U.K. (31) in Sancaktepe.  T.D.'s cousin T.S. (29)
was taken into custody in İzmit.

Gang leader T.D. confessed that she was a 'close friend' (!) of
Fatma Vonel and that she had planned the caper, providing the
'cargo men' with the security codes to enter the residential area
in İzmit.   T.D. also told the robbers where in the house Melek
and Fatma kept their jewelry.  T.D., İ.Y., U.K., B.A. and T.S.
were arrested.


Gang members bond by having soup together and picking
letters for one another.
