Ömer A.'s molten features should have been a dead
giveaway....but Arzu hanım was blinded by love.
In Şanlıurfa, teacher Arzu Y. became the victim of a hoodwinking
'lawyer'. Arzu Y., who taught in Suruç district for two years,
became friends with Ömer A. there and fell in love with him.
Arzu hanım and Ömer A., who identified himself as a lawyer, got
engaged but at the end of last year Ömer A. told Arzu hanım that
he needed money for a sure-thing investment. Trusting him (!),
Arzu hanım gave Ömer A. 155,000 (about $40,000) but he quickly
disappeared.
Soon after, Arzu hanım learned that Ömer A. was not a lawyer,
despite him having shown her a law school diploma and a business
card. Arzu hanım has filed a complaint against Ömer A.,
lamenting that "it's not just for compensation of the money, it's
also because I've been emotionally devastated." She hopes that
Ömer A. will be arrested as quickly as possible.
