Istanbul narcotics police launched one of the biggest operations
in recent years, targetting a dope production facility in a farm
house in Çatalca, a luxury villa in Riva-Beykoz and two addresses
in Üsküdar and Ataşehir. At the villa in Riva, police found
350,000 ecstasy pills and, for the first time in Turkey, 1.1 tons
of "metilamin", which is used to make ecstasy and other synthetic
drugs even more potent. "Metilamin" is also used in the production
of insecticides (!).
Maybe with some milk and sugar - the new "Wheaties"?
One of the suspects taken into custody at the villa in Riva was
former Turkey body-building champion Tarık Aslantürk, who
became addicted to body-building drugs and from there to the
more dangerous synthetic narcotics like ecstacy and "metilamin".
In all, 7 people were taken into custody, including citizens of
Albania, Iran, the UK and Uzbekistan. The market value of the
narcotics seized was put at 104 million TL (about $25 million).
