A pensive Kameri contemplating his wardrobe, in
happier times...
On 2 April, in a forested area on the slopes of the Amanos
Mountains in Gaziantep's İslahiye district, a chopped-up
body with the head detached was found by shepherds.
The dead person had been stabbed in the back and the body
had been ravaged by wild animals.
After DNA testing the body parts were put in the morgue
so that the identity could be determined and the remains
delivered to relatives. After 15 days, though, the identity
could still not be determined so the remains were buried
in a paupers graveyard.

However, the Gendarmerie checked a barcode on the
victim's clothing and found out where the clothes were
sold. It turned out that 200 people had purchased the
same clothing item and this clue led investigators to
Adem Kameri (44), the married father of 4, from Hakkari's
Yüksekova district.
Kameri's family identified the body and the DNA tests
confirmed that it was Kameri, so his remains were turned
over to his relatives, who buried him properly in Yüksekova.
Meanwhile, the Gendarmerie checked a phone number Kameri
was in frequent contact with and identified Hakkari lawyer N.Ç.
Police believe that Kameri and N.Ç. argued over 70 kilograms
of narcotics. N.Ç. was picked up in Hatay, brought to İslahiye
and jailed on the charge of murdering Kameri.
