Last of the big spenders nearly lost it all.
In Antalya, Murat Tokmak (25) was one of 4 people who shared
the 61 million TL (about $12 million) national lottery jackpot
but that made him the target of thieves. Tokmak went to a car
dealership on 29 May to buy a new car for his ex-wife with 700,000
TL in the trunk of his luxury car. Tokmak paid 130,000 for his
ex-wife's new car and left the remaining 570,000 TL in the trunk.
The thieves, who had been following Tokmak, stole the money in
the trunk but they were caught and taken into custody. Suspects
S.G. (31), A.E. (31), Ö.T. (22), S.Ç. (24 and Ç. E. (19) said in
their statements to police that they had been tracking Tokmak for
some time and saw that he would leave a 150-200 TL tip after
drinking tea or coffee. The thieves said they wanted to teach
Tokman a lesson about wasting money so that's why they
targetted him. (!)
