While taking the bottle opener eye-test. (He failed)
The coordinator for organ transplants at Antalya Training and Research
Hospital, Recayi Madaslı, sustained an injury to his eye last year when
he opened a soda bottle and the cap flew into his eye. Madaslı was
operated on immediately when his right eye bled. During the operation
Madaslı's cornea, lens and iris were repaired.
This is not a bottle opener.
Subsequently, Madaslı underwent 2 more operations and last April he
had a cornea transplant. Right now Madaslı sees only partially with his
right eye and in the year ahead he will have another 24 stitches removed
from his eye. Understandably, given his job, Madaslı is even more
fervent about the importance of organ transplants.
This (!) is a bottle opener.
On the day the accident happened, Medaslı was trying to open a
soda bottle but he couldn't find a bottle opener. So instead, he tried
to take the soda cap off with the edge of a cigarette lighter (!).
