Seawolf holds pegleg while hugging hero, SAKE's Aydın.
İbrahim Denizkurdu went to the Lake Sapanca district of Sakarya
province for a vacation and entered the water from the dock there.
Shortly thereafter, though, Denizkurdu (which means 'Seawolf')'s
prosthetic leg came loose and sunk to the bottom of the lake.
Denizkurdu made it to shore and informed authorities of the mishap,
prompting a SAKE (Sakarya Search & Rescue) team to come. Team
member Erdal Aydın dove into the lake with an oxygen tank and,
after a lengthy search, found the prosthetic leg in 4.5 meters of water
among reeds.
SAKE gets it done.
After the rescue, Aydın explained that "our job and our goal is to make
people happy and well. Generally, we look for people lost in the sea,
in rivers and in forests. This is the first time, though, that I've been
involved in something like this. It was an unfortunate incident but it
had a happy outcome since we found the prosthetic leg. The happiness
on his face said it all and made my effort worthwhile. SAKE tries to
do the impossible to make people happy."
Lake Sapanca is about 100 miles east of Istanbul.
