Water!

  Really, more precious than anything but air.

Youths tending their herds in the summer pastures of Digor district
in Kars province noticed water flowing from underneath the road
there, which made the local villagers ecstatic.  The youths, Ömer
Adikti and Muhammed İsmail Adikti, were grazing their animals in
an area of Digor which has 11 summer pastures.  For years the
villagers have had to transport water from 20 kilometers away on
donkeys  (!) so they were beside themselves when news came of
the water discovery in close proximity.

The villagers raced to the site with shovels and found the water to
be crystal clear and drinkable.  Pools were dug to collect the precious
liquid after a canal was carved from the water source.  Local authorities
promised to make the necessary studies to take full advantage of
the water.  Mehmet Adikti from nearby Düzgeçit village first drank
heartily of the water and then poured the ice-cold liquid over his
head. 

Düzgeçit and Bayırbağ village chiefs İrfan Adikti and Kazım budak
asked provincial authorities for assistance.


    Digor district is on the border with Armenia.
