Looking down toward home.
In Etimesgut district of Ankara on 7 September, citizens waiting
at a bus stop in order to go to work were attacked by Hakkı Ç.
As the people at the bus stop scattered to avoid Hakkı Ç., Mert K.
and Hayrullah A. were stabbed and another two people were
wounded. Hakkı Ç. continued to stab Mert K. and Hayrullah A.
as they lay on the ground. Rescuers arriving at the scene declared
Mert K. and Hayrullah A. dead, while Hakkı Ç. was arrested by
police.
Mert K.'s uncle Eyüp Güneş stated that "5 people were waiting
at the bus stop when this person came up and said 'Are you a
Moslem?'. When the attacker was told 'Yes, I'm a Moslem.' he
responded by saying 'I'm the devil!' and began stabbing them. (!)
Grieving father Erkan K. lamented that "this hurts so much. This
killer has to face justice!"
