She's seen the worst of three different centuries.
Koku İslambulova is known as the world's oldest person
and according to her birth certificate she is 129-years-old
(!). But as far as Koku hanım is concerned, "living long
is a punishment".

Koku hanım was born in Chechnya and she can still
remember when Stalin sent her into exile in Kazakhstan
75 years ago. After Stalin died she returned to the home
she had built with her own hands in Chechnya. In a
documentary about Chechnya, Koku hanım lamented that
her entire life has been unhappy, except for the day she
returned to her homeland from exile.
