Cow's best friend.
In Adana's Sarıçam district, a street dog was continually barking
next to a sewer head so passers-by looked into the rain run-off
canal and saw that a cow had fallen into it. (!)
The incident occurred on Girne Boulevard in Sarıçam, which is
one of Adana city's five component districts. Citizens notified
CANKUR (animal rescue) and a team used a back-hoe to break
the sewer opening and enlarge it so a winch could extract the cow.
The whole time, the dog did not leave the side of the stranded
cow, which was later taken to an animal shelter.

Dog food for thought.
In İsparta, a street dog that tried to make off with a book in its
mouth sparked amusement in onlookers. The dog, named
Gandalf, frequents the bookstore in the Kutlubey neighborhood
and took a book entitled "Mustafa Kemal" (about Atatürk) from
a shelf.
Store owner Hasan Yırık noticed the theft-in-progress and retrieved
the book from Gandalf. Yırık explained that "He first lay down in
front of the store and they got busy with something. The next
thing I knew he had put the book in his mouth and was leaving.
I called "Gandalf!" and he stopped, turned and came back wagging
his tail. I think he was going to take the book to the store I used
to work at."
Gandalf was actually looking for this one.
