Polly want a psychopath? No thanks.
In Istanbul, Murat Özdemir, a failed contestant on the TV show
"MasterChef", tortured his pet parrot Bahtiyar and posted the horrible
images on social media. After giving a statement to police, Özdemir
was released because the law mandating jail sentences for cruelty
to animals has not yet taken effect.
Nevertheless, Özdemir was fined 5,254 TL (about $1,000) and made
to spend 21 days in treatment at the Bakırköy mental hospital.
Bahtiyar suffered a broken leg and other trauma from the torture
Özdemir inflicted and died within the past few hours on 20 December.
How did HE get out of his cage?!

At least it was August and the water was warm...
A bull named Ferdinand escaped from an animal market in İyidere,
Rize, on the first day of the Kurban Bayram (Feast of Sacrifice)
last August and was found on the 4th day of the feast in the water
off Sürmene in Trabzon province.
Ferdinand swam from İyidere, west of Rize, to Sürmene,
between Rize and Trabzon, over the course of 3 days.
The singer Haluk Levent has saved Ferdinand from the slaughter
house. After the incident during Kurban Bayram, Ferdinand was
brought to a rehabilitation shelter in Izmir to recover from the
trauma. Shelter founder Sibel Çağlar has just reported that
Ferdinand has reached 600 kilograms (!) and has a girlfriend
named Hilal.
Lovin' life.

Fox & Friend
As the winter snow has come to the Palandöken in Erzurum province,
so too have the foxes who've been having trouble finding food in
the snow-covered forests nearby. Workers at a hotel have been
putting out cookies for the foxes, who generally show up in front
of the hotel around the evening tea hour.. Hotel director Erdal
Gezginci explained that "the foxes come to the hotel when it gets
dark and they see the lights of our building and we're giving them
cookies."
