Well, lawyers aren't always known for their bonafides either...
Metin Polat has worked as a lawyer for 10 years in Kayseri. He was
hired by İbrahim B. (30) who was on trial for counterfeiting and fraud,
and visited İbrahim B. one time in jail in Izmir. Polat went to Izmir
from Kayseri twice for hearings on the case and succeeded in getting
İbrahim B. released from jail.
After being released, İbrahim B. paid Polat for his services but Polat
subsequently realized that one of the banknotes İbrahim B. paid him
with was counterfeit (!). A bewildered Polat said that "I called my
client and told him one of the bills he paid me with was counterfeit.
In response, İbrahim B. said 'brother, I wouldn't do such a thing!' but
I checked the bill and determined it is a fake. I'm thinking of keeping
the bill as a memento to remember my first time being hoodwinked
as a lawyer."
