The "Hilton Homeless" in Manavgat.
In Antalya's Manavgat district, businessman Taner Demir Durar (45)
noticed postings on social media about homeless people seeking
shelter in mosque gardens because of the cold and rainy winter
weather. So Durar opened the doors of his hotel to the homeless.
Durar posted this on his social media account: "I'm offering full and
free hotel service to our homeless friends who have no place else to
go this winter. If you know anyone in such a circumstance point them
in our direction."
"Hey look, I been there."
In addition to providing three meals a day to his homeless hotel
residents throughout the winter, Durar is also helping them with
clothing expenses. Since he was once himself out on the street,
Durar can empathize: "It's really tough to live on the street. You
have no place to sleep, no bread and no one to talk to. I've been
there, so for me to remain silent in this situation is impossible."
