In Şanlıurfa, 44,000 job-seekers filled a stadium for a drawing for
1,000 jobs. Those hired will work for 9 months as school janitors.
The drawing was held within the scope of the Community Aid
Program (TYP), overseen by the National Education Ministry.
After the TYP program was announced, candidates from Şanlıurfa
and surrounding districts applied and the overwhelming response
prompted officials to hold the drawing in the 11 April Stadium
yesterday. A relatively few happy people heard their names and
those of alternates announced, while the remainder of the crowd
went home empty-handed.
