His dreams must be quite interesting...
The 'rektör' (president) of Siirt University in southeastern Turkey (ranked
90th out of Turkey's 108 state universities), Murat Erman, has been in the
news lately for issuing an order for a new official car for himself that
stipulated 30 conditions, including a speed capablilty of 232 kph. (!)
It turns out that Erman already has two other official cars, one of which is
a Hyundai Elentra that awaits him in a 24/7 carpark at Esenboğa Airport in
Ankara for whenever he visits the capital.
One observer tweeted on the details of Erman's latest automotive
desire: "Specifications for the Siirt University president's car: foreign-
made, 4x4 deisel, 2000 cc and at least 190 horsepower, 0-100 in 8.2
seconds, length 4.932 meters (16.2 feet), width 1.874 meters (6.1 feet),
height 1.455 meters (4.9 feet), weight 1660 kilograms (3,659 lbs.),
maximum speed: 232 kph (144 mph). In short, the Rektör wants an
Audi A6."
The Hyundai Elentra's 2018 average cost is 120,000 TL (about $25,000).
While at the university, Erman now uses a Ford Kuga Jeep, the 2018
price for which is an average of 150,000 TL. Siirt University officials
confirmed all of the above but explained that "these cars aren't just for
the Rektör's use. The Jeep and the car parked at the airport in Ankara
are also for the use of our students who go there for competitions and
other university officials who have matters to attend to in the capital.
If you look at the university's official records you'll see that there is
only one official car listed for the respected Rektör, and that's the
new one (Audi A6)."
As for Erman, he remarked in exasperation: "It's not as if it's a
Ferarri! This is the car that every rektör has." (!)
