When passsengers can be very helpful...
Mustafa B. was driving his car from Istanbul to Izmir at 1 o'clock
in the morning when he approached Kayalıoğlu village in Akhisar
and passed a bus on the wrong side. Taking exception to this,
bus driver Mustafa Bayındır blew his horn and flashed his lights
to display his displeasure at Mustafa B., who pulled into a gas
station some 500 meters ahead.
Tough luck for a would-be tough guy.
Bus driver Bayındır noticed that Mustafa B. had entered the gas
station so he went there, too. At this point, Tuğrul Ö., sitting in
the passenger seat of Mustafa B.'s car, pulled out a gun and
threatened Bayındır.
However (!), seeing this, the 28 policemen who were riding in
Bayındır's bus got out and surrounded the astonished Mustafa B.
and Tuğrul Ö. A search of the car yielded a small knife, a 9 mm
revolver and 2 grams of narcotics.
Since the scene of the incident was not in a police region, the
two suspects were turned over to the Gendarmerie but when
Bayındır did not file a complaint they were released after giving
statements. The policemen on Bayındır's bus were returning to
Izmir after providing security at President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's
appearance the day before at a political event in Sakarya.
