12 years later, "Gotcha!"
In 2006, Hasan Baş, who owned his own passenger bus and
lived in Saray district of Tekirdağ province, disappeared 3
months after marrying Gülnazik Baş (55). At the time, Gülnazik
hanım went to the police and filed a missing-persons report about
Hasan bey, who was 54-years-old then.
No trace of Hasan bey could be found so in 2014 a court issued
a 'gaiplik' decision (a declaring a missing person legally presumed
dead), and the case was put on the shelf. However, the Tekirdağ
police decided to take another look, tasking a 5-person team to
scrutinize the case. After months of research, the team determined
that after his death, Gülnazik hanım sold Hasan bey's bus and house
and began living with her lover Metin Motor (!).
Gülnazik hanım's step-son Murat Karadeniz declared that they
had killed Hasan bey in order to get his retirement pay, bus and
house. As a result, Gülnazik hanım, her daughter Elif Yanar,
Murat Karadeniz, Metin Motor and relatives Gülsüm Sevgi and
Nuri Yıldız were all taken into custody.
The suspects confessed that they had strangled Hasan bey, put
his body in a bathtub for a day and then took the body to Silivri,
Istanbul, where they burned it.
