In Sultandağı district of Afyonkarahisar province, a woman named
K.A. went to the police station 10 days ago to report that her ex-but-
still-living-with-husband Abdullah Gazi Akbıyık had gone missing.
As the police effort to find Akbıyık continued, though, the couple's
daughter A.A. (14) told police yesterday that her mother had killed
her dad.
Grieving wife K.A., right, appeals for help but won't share recipe.
Meanwhile, K.A. had gone to Istanbul to appear on a TV show and
appeal for help in finding her husband (!). Police in Afyonkarahisar
alerted their colleagues in Istanbul to the daughter's information and
K.A. was taken into custody. In her subsequent statement, K.A.
confessed to killing Akbıyık, explaining that she burned his body in
a 'tandır' (oven made in a hole in the ground) in back of their house.
Afyonkarahisar police searched the house's garden and tandır for any
traces of Akbıyık and the search results are being examined in a
police laboratory. K.A. will be returned to Afyonkarahisar.
