Be careful not to step on the broken glass.
Three days before an apartment building in Kartal, Istanbul, collapsed
the windows began to break from the structure's vibrations so a glazier
was called to replace the broken glass (!). Glazier Volkan Balta (45) was
washing his hands after fixing the windows when the building suddenly
fell.
"Captain, perhaps we should re-arrange these deck chairs..."
Balta's son and a helper were taking equipment to their vehicle while
Balta remained in the building to wash up after finishing the job. As
rescuers searched through the debris, Balta's ex-wife Fatma Balta and
his current Russian girlfriend waited for word of Balta's fate.
