Hmmm, seems like the cat's already out of the bag...at
least in China.
The U.S. Embassy in Ankara saved former U.S. President Barack
Obama from the hands of a Turkish entrepreneur. The entrepreneur's
branding intrigues almost engendered a diplomatic crisis between the
two countries.
An Istanbul-based company that deals in clothes, advertising and
event organizing made a request to the Turkish Patent and Brand
Council for the rights to the "Barack Obama" brand. The U.S.
Embassy became aware of the request and its commercial attaché
spoke with the Council, which researched the matter and decided
to reject the company's request.
