71 canines give 'cattle class' a run for its money.
On 5 December, a truck filled with 71 dogs (!) was stopped on the
Aydıncık-Gülnar road in Eskiyörük village in Mersin province. The
driver refused to tell the Gendarmerie troops anything about the
'cargo'. The dogs had no identification at all, including no 'earrings'
that are typically attached to stray dogs.
After the dogs were taken under Gendarmerie protection, officials
in Mersin contacted their counterparts in Alanya district of Antalya
province and sent the dogs back there. Salim Serdar Gökçek, the
head of Mersin's veterinary services, explained that "we got in touch
with Alanya officials and told them not to send stray dogs to Mersin
again and they agreed."
Ultimately, the day before yesterday the dogs were transported to the
Alanya Municipal Stray Animal Protection & Rehabilitation Center.
The dogs left Alanya, lower left, headed for Boyazı
district on Mersin province's Mediterranean coast,
but were intercepted by the Gendarmerie in Aydıncık
district.

First class.
The day before yesterday, a bus driver on the Beşiktaş-İstinye route in
Istanbul noticed a shivering dog at a bus stop so he brought the pooch
aboard his bus. A passenger on the bus recorded the dog napping on
a seat and posted the video on social media, producing an avalanche
of 'likes' for both the dog and the bus driver.
İstinye is a bit above Boyacıköy on the European (left) coast of
the Bosphorus.
