Deadly Revision of Tradition of Bride Stepping on New Hubby's Shoe

Deadly reversal of a husband-wife tradition.


Last Friday, Özlem Karabulak (43), the mother of five, set out from
Istanbul and reached the home of Aynur Süngülü (37), with whom
Özlem hanım's estranged husband Tufan Karabulak was living in
Seydişehir district of Konya.  Aynur hanım's daughter opened the door
to Özlem hanım, who then entered and shot Aynur hanım 4 times,
killing her.

Police learned that immediately after murdering Aynur hanım, Özlem
hanım had fled the scene in a taxi.  They also noticed that she had
posted a picture on social media of her foot on Tufan bey's shoes at
Aynur hanım's door, with the caption "You're next!".  At the time of
the murder, Tufan bey was working outside of Konya.


                                   Cast of characters.

Özlem hanım was tracked by police to her older brother's home in
Kocaeli and arrested.  In her statement to police Özlem hanım
explained that "Aynur kept sending me messages like 'I stole your
husband! If you were a real woman he wouldn't have left you!'
She also sent me bracelets and other presents my husband had
bought for her just to irritate me.  I went to her house just to warn
her, not intending to kill her.  But all of a sudden I pulled out the
gun and shot her." (!)
