Funeral flowers.
On Cemil Topuzlu Avenue (also known as 'Sahil Yolu' (shore
road)) ın Kadıköy, Istanbul, the evening before last, Tahsin Yüksekova
(38) came to his wife Seyhan's flower stand, argued with her and then
shot her dead. Yüksekova next went to his mother Zülfiye's flower
stand on the same street and shot her dead, as well.
Yüksekova boarded a 'dolmuş' (collective taxi) but was picked up
by police in nearby Ataşehir. He was given a blood test and found
to be a drug addict, with a criminal record that includes murder,
wounding, threats, insults and carrying an unlicensed weapon.
Yüksekova had been released from prison 6 months ago.
Susceptible to father-figure influence.
During his interrogation for the murders of his wife and mother,
Yüksekova explained that "my father A.Y. made me do it! He kept
pressuring me to kill my wife and my mother, although I didn't have
a problem with either one of them (!). I'd even given my lawyer
authority to let my wife divorce me. I was ready to split up with her
but my father pumped me up to kill her."
