"Loto Guli" Salifov - wanna-be fruits & vegetables mafia don.
On 18 August 2016, Rövşen Caniyev was killed in front of a hotel
in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. After the killing, police determined that Caniyev
(a.k.a. 'Hayalet' (ghost)) was the head of the fruit and vegetable (!)
wholesale mafia within the larger Russian mafia organization.
In order to take revenge for Caniyev's murder, Russian mafia chieftan
Hacı Baba Talibanlı sent his men to Istanbul over the past few months,
targetting Nadir "Loto Guli" Salifov, who ordered Caniyev's killing in
2016. Talibanlı's vengence squad tracked down Salifov's cousin in
Beşiktaş but when he wouldn't give them Salifov's address he was
stabbed to death (!).
Police learned that the revenge-takers had brought long-barreled
rifles and other assassination weapons into Istanbul from abroad.
So the night before last, police raided locations in three districts of
the city. A Russian named Anri Malyi, 3 Ukrainians, 4 Georgians
and 8 Azerbaijanis were taken into custody and a search of the
luxury residences where the gang members were staying yielded
a 'Sig Sauer' assassination weapon, 11 handguns, an AK-47 rifle
and 222 bullets.
If you're keeping score, that's Anri Malyi on the floor.
Salifov took over Caniyev's fruit and vegetable wholesale mafia
empire but denied involvement in the killing. Nevertheless, Russian
authorities issued an arrest warrant so Salifov fled to Turkey in 2018.
Caniyev's gang hired the local Istanbul gang called the 'Şirinler'
(Smurfs (!)) to kill Salifov, who was sent to his native Azerbaijan
by Turkish authorities, even though he resisted repatriation for 3
months, fearing for his life in Baku.
"It Gets The Job Done!"
Salifov stayed in Azerbaijan only briefly before fleeing to Dubai
and then Qatar in early 2019. At the end of the year, Salifov was
able to return to Turkey illegally and live with his family in Istanbul.
When Hacı Baba Talibanlı learned of this he sent his 16-member
hit-squad to Istanbul to kill Salifov.
"Şirinler" gang's threat warning hand-out.
