The right man - the only man! - for the job.
On 31 December 2019, the rector of Sutcu Imam University (SIU) in
Kahramanmaras announced a job opening for its Goksun Professional
High School's "Finance, Banking and Insurance Section: Banking and
Insurance Program." The successful candidate would need to have
"worked with crypto-money systems" and "have a masters degree with
thesis in the field of accounting and finance", as well as "at least four
years banking experience."
(Incredibly!) The only candidate possessing all of these qualifications
turned out to be Furkan Seyithanoglu, the brother-in-law of Dr. Orhan
Ercan, the principal at Goksun Professional High School. (!)
A principal with(out) principles.
Seyithanoglu, who is currently the Kahramanmaras Provincial
Representative of the Turkey Youth Foundation, just happened to
have a masters in accounting and finance, with a thesis in "blockchain
technology and Bitcoin", and he began working at a bank in 2015.
SIU grades on a relative curve.
To become a faculty member at SIU Seyithanoglu was awarded 67
points for his masters, 70 for his foreign language ability and 95 (!)
from the university on its entrance exam, giving him an average of
78. Seyithanoglu has since started working at the school for
principal and brother-in-law Dr. Orhan Ercan, who was appointed
as principal on 13 December 2018.
