Police to M.G.: "Hey, you gambled and you lost."
Because of the coronavirus outbreak, many businesses and shops have
been closed throughout Turkey. In Tarsus district of Mersin province,
A.S., the owner of a 'hamam' (public bath), closed up and went to
Ankara.
However (!), one of his workers, M.G., took advantage of A.S.'s
absence to turn the hamam into a gambling hall. The Tarsus police,
though, got a tip and raided the 'casino' the day before yesterday,
catching 10 gamblers in action. Each of them was fined 4,767 TL
(about $850). As for M.G., he was arrested for "establishing a
gambling venue".
