That good nomad lifestyle pays off.
In Kahramanmaraş, Eşe Gelebek (126!), who has 13 children and 400
grandchildren (!), was taken to Necip Fazıl City Hospital on 20 April
with a high fever. After testing 'positive' for COVID-19 test, Eşe
hanım was put in intensive care for a week but after another week
in the hospital she beat the virus.
With her triumph over COVID-19, Eşe hanım eclipsed 113-year-old
Spaniard Maria Branyas as the oldest person in the world to recover.
Together with her son Hamdullah Gelebek (55), Eşe hanım returned
home for 14 days of quarantine. She said proudly that "I'm a Yörük
(Turkish nomad). I only eat natural foods - lots of milk and yogurt
and cheese. That's the secret of my health."
