This time, the shoe was on the other foot.
Yesterday in Elazığ, police were checking citizens for compliance
with wearing masks during the COVID-19 pandemic on Vali Fahri
Bey Avenue in the city center. After warning G.G. (28), who was
walking around without a mask, an argument erupted but G.G.
broke free from the police and fled to a nearby passageway.
The two policemen involved pursued G.G. but they were ambushed
by G.G. and his friends O.G. (28) and E.T. (25). Passers-by alerted
police HQS and reinforcements quickly arrived to 'neutralize' the
3 attackers. Health crews attended to the beaten policemen, who
were taken to the hospital for treatment by ambulance.
During processing at the police station, all three suspects were found
to have long police records.
