If you are a sheep, you've got a lawyer!
In Ankara, lawyer Osman Gökmen hoodwinked a large number of
people, including a former district mayor and businessmen, by getting
them to sign promissory notes by means of the "window" method,
whereby underneath the paper you sign, like a cargo receipt, is the
promissory note that you have "signed" as well. (!)
Gökmen was taken into custody but despite two objections by the
public prosecutor, he was released by the court. In celebration of
his freedom, Gökmen sacrificed eight animals. (!)
However (!), the unreformed Gökmen had a Turkish citizen from
abroad sign a promissory note worth 75,000 Euros and was once
again taken into custody. This time Gökmen was jailed, along with
Alparslan B.O. and Ahmet S., while one Mehmet S. was released on
judicial supervision.
