He just wanted to put her out of his misery.
In Fatih district of Istanbul, Yalçın Narman (33) and his wife Fatma (21)
married 4 years ago and had two children together. Last Sunday at about
4 o'clock in the afternoon, Yalçın bey called the police to say that his wife
had "committed suicide". Police arrived at the house and found Fatma
hanım's body lying at the door of the bedroom. She had gunshot wounds
in her hip and chest. (!)
Yalçın bey and his brother B.N. were at the house when the police arrived
and told police that they had come home to find Fatma hanım lying
wounded on the floor, with Yalçın bey's gun next to her. In a panic,
Yalçın had put the gun in a drawer. Since it was not possible that Fatma
hanım could have shot herself in the hip and chest, and the fact that Yalçın
hid the gun, police began to suspect foul play (!). So, Yalçın bey and B.N.
were taken into custody.
Fatma hanım's body was brought to the police forensic lab and the gun,
two empty cartridges and two shell casings, along with a piece of her
shirt, were examined at the police lab. There were no gunpowder residues
or burns on the shirt piece, indicating that the gunshots were fired from a
distance, rather than adjacent to the shirt. Consequently, the case became
a murder investigation. (!)
Yalçın bey refused to answer questions at the police station nor those
posed by the public prosecutor. Nevertheless, Yalçın bey was jailed on
suspicion of killing Fatma hanım and B.N. was released on judicial
supervision.
