Hacer hanım's ungraceful disembarkation.
In Erzurum, minibus driver M.E.K. opened his vehicle's door as he
approached a stop and Hacer Tuğra (53) fell into the street before the
minibus came to a complete halt. Nevertheless, with Hacer hanım
writhing in pain on the street, M.E.K. drove on. She was taken to a
hospital in an ambulance that arrived at the scene.
Police stopped M.E.K. and asked him "Why did you leave the accident
scene?" Defending his actions, M.E.K. "explained" that "As you know,
our schedule is important (!) so I took my passengers where they needed
to go and arrived here (where police nabbed him). I feel bad about what
happened. I opened the door as I was coming to the stop but I wasn't
going fast."
Traffic police fined M.E.K. for driving an uninspected vehicle, having
an expired license and leaving the scene of an accident. Yet, the next
day M.E.K. was back at the wheel and was spotted by a local
journalist who boarded the minibus and asked M.E.K. how he could
be driving with all the prohibitions he faced. M.E.K. at first just
shrugged but he then became angry and ran a red light.
Police tracked M.E.K. down and fined him 51,000 TL (about $1,500).
In addition, since M.E.K. is a still now only a driver-candidate (!) he
was assessed 80 penalty points meaning that his driver's license is
permanently voided. (!)
M.E.K. thinking about his next profession.
