Settled on a post-op toast with both rakı and ouzo.
A Greek commercial vessel in the Indian Ocean put out a distress
call in connection with an injured seaman and the Turkish Navy
frigate Giresun came to its aid. The incident occurred in the Gulf
of Aden where the Giresun is on patrol as part of the international
anti-piracy effort.
Doubtless a further sign of Turk-Greek rapproachement.
Vazoios Marcos, a seaman on the Greek 'Aegean Angel' tanker lost
his thumb in an accident on board the ship. Marcos was transported
from the 'Aegean Angel' to the Giresun via helicopter and a Turkish
Navy doctor treated him on the Giresun.
