Vixen Fadime hanım had her lover kill hubby.
On 17 September 2013 in Ermenek district of Karaman province, when
the family of miner Ali Benli, the father of 3 children, didn't hear from
him they began to search and found his body next to an overturned
backhoe on the bed of a stream.
Initially, the Gendarmerie concluded that Benli's death had been
accidental. When one of Benli's shoes was found 200 meters away,
though, a murder investigation began but lapsed when no concrete
evidence was found.
Four years later in October, the case was reopened and the Gendarmerie
interviewed 40 individuals, focusing on family members, in particular.
Contradictory stories prompted the Gendarmerie to send the whisky
bottle and half-eaten apple found at the scene to the criminal lab. Benli's
DNA was found on the apple and the DNA of his close friend Bayar B.
(42) was found on the whisky bottle.
Ali Bey's last meal.
The Gendarmerie then determined that Benli's wife Fadime (34) had
begun a relationship with Bayar B. in 2012 and that their ties were
still ongoing. Fadime hanım was taken into custody and confessed
that Bayar B. had killed her husband. Subsequently, Bayar B., the
father of 4 children (!), was arrested.
In his statement, Bayar B. explained that "Fadime had me kill her
husband so that she could collect his salary and possessions. We
agreed that he was an obstacle to our relationship so we decided to
kill him. On the day of the incident, when he and I were alone I
took the opportunity to smash his head with a rock repeatedly and
kill him. Then, I put the body in the backhoe and pushed it over
the cliff."
Both Fadime hanım and Bayar B. were arrested and charged with
premeditated murder.
