"Hmmm, what have we here?..."
Last Monday at 2 in the morning in the Tepebaşı Çatma Mescit
neighborhood of Beyoğlu, Istanbul, a thief broke into a luxury
car, found the key to the owner's store in the glove compartment,
took a taxi to the store across town and there he found the spare
key to the car (!). Returning by taxi to the car, the thief started
it and took off.
The car-store owner Hakan Duyar was staying with relatives
in Beyoğlu at the time of the theft. When he awoke in the
morning and didn't see his 250,000 TL (about $65,000) luxury
car he assumed it had been towed for some reason. Looking at
security camera images, Duyar realized that his car had been
stolen.
Well, at least he still has his fetching Armani Jeans knock-off
t-shirt.
Duyar then went to his store in the Güngören-Merter section of
Istanbul and found that his car's spare key was missing. Duyar
then understood that the thief had used the spare key to steal the
car. The entire episode occurred in the space of 1 hour, 10 minutes.
