Glad to see the boys are OK but who's looking for the sheep?!
In Soma district of Manisa province, Muhammed Taşkın (11) and his
brother Ömer (9) took their sheep out to graze the morning before yesterday
but didn't return in the evening. The boys' relatives alerted the Gendarmerie,
which asked for help from AFAD (search & rescue). A 400-person group (!)
began searching for the boys at 0130 at night.
The search continued all night, using drones, and resulted in happy news at
around 6 in the morning, when the boys were found 18 kilometers away from
their home, under a tree in a rocky area. Muhammed and Ömer were found
hugging each other to keep warm. Their parents, Tülay and Veysi Taşkın,
were airlifted to the site by a Gendarmerie helicopter Father Veysi explained that
"my boys lost their way after sunset and went in the wrong direction. They
wrapped themselves in their scarves and hugged each other to keep warm
and stay alive." Manisa Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General
Erhan Can visited the boys in the hospital, where they got a check-up.
Soma is Manisa's northernmost district.
