How did he survive without elevator music for
90 minutes?!
In Kadıköy, Istanbul, the electricity in an apartment
building was cut off because of non-payment of bills.
However, at the time the electricity was cut off,
Nurettin Akalın (78) was in the building's elevator
and he was stuck there for 90 minutes.
Energy company workers who cut off the electricity
left the building unaware of Akalın's plight. Fortunately,
building residents heard his cries for help and called the
energy company. However, the energy company still
refused to turn the electricity back on until the bill was
paid (!).
Ultimately, an elevator repairman came and freed
Akalın. Building resident Tarık Alkış said in disbelief
"Don't they check for such things when they cut off the
power?! Didn't they realize there was someone in the
elevator?! How could this happen!?"
