A Colombian dance group made up of 12 men and women came to
Antalya to perform their "Salsa Show" at various hotels last summer.
The group could not come to an agreement with the hotels for the
winter season, though, and 5 members of the group returned to
Colombia with their own means last month.
They should be dancing, as the Bee Gees would say.
The remaining 7 dancers did not have the money to buy airline
tickets to Colombia (7,000 TL/$1,500 each) so they used their
last resources to make it to Atatürk Airport in Istanbul, where
they stayed in the overseas departure lounge for 12 days. Sleeping
on benches and cardboard in the lounge, the dancers were provided
for by sympathetic airport workers, as they waited for a miracle.
The miracle arrived in the person of singer Haluk Levent, who
arranged with Turkish Airlines for reduced-fare tickets for the
Colombians.

(Feast of Sacrifice).
