Alexander the Great Was No Colin Farrell

An excavation at the Pisidia Antiokheia Antique City in Yalvaç district
of Isparta province has yielded a marble bust that resembles Alexander
the Great (!).  The excavation has been underway for 11 years, led by
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özhanlı who announced that the bust, thought to
be from the Late Hellenistic Period, was found at the Men Temple,
which was a pilgrimage point during the Hellenistic Period.



      ...somewhat less than uncanny.

According to Prof. Özhanlı, the temple was excavated for the first
time last year in the 'Oikos' group of rooms in the east of the city.
The Alexander bust was found in the seventh of these rooms.
Prof. Özhanlı asserted that "this is a bust that resembles Alexander
the Great's hair and visage.  There's a ribbon in his hair.  Right now
it's difficult to say for certain whether this was a king or another
version of Alexander.  The bust was made in the way that ones
were made of his commanders, who we call the 'Diadochi'."
