Kıraç, right, said to be investing in the latest face-recognition
technology henceforth...
Turkish businessman İnan Kıraç (82) was hoodwinked out of 4.1
million Euros by French-Israeli swindler Gilbert Chikli, who wore
a silicon mask of former French Defense Minister Jean Yves Drian
in a video conference with Kıraç (!).
Chikli's shrugged-shoulder defense: "What?"
Chikli created a model of Drian's office for the video conference
scheme and convinced Kıraç that "we must save a journalist
who is in the hands of a terror organization." It is thought that
in total Chikli scammed 80 million Euros with this approach.
Kıraç sent the 4.1 million Euros to a bank account in China.
Chikli has been sentenced to 7 years in jail. His latest victim
was Sophie Grenier, the accountant for the Landes Region
Chamber of Commerce, who contacted police about Chikli
when she realized she was being bamboozled by him. Chikli
was arrested in Kiev and put in jail in France last year.
Shades of TV'S 'Mission Impossible'. That's the new
'Mr. Phelps', played by understudy Gilbert Chikli,
addressing the camera.
