A poster at the new Istanbul Airport offering Turkish citizenship
for a $250,000 investment has drawn sharp criticism. Journalist
Duygu Demirdağ shared a photo of the poster that she noticed at the
IA terminal building.
İYİ Party Istanbul parliamentarian Prof. Dr. Ümit Özdağ asserted
that "no serious nation would market its citizenship like this. It's
proof that they (ruling party) have given over the country to
marketers." Last year a path to Turkish citizenship was opened to
those willing to either buy a home for $250,000 or invest $500,000
in the country.
