In Çayyolu, Ankara, Ankara University Prof. Dr. H.B. (53) was accused
of raping veterinarian Ç.B. (24), who was working the night shift at
the animal hospital where H.B. is a partner. Based on Ç.B.'s complaint,
H.B. was arrested and jailed.
According to claims, H.B. beat Ç.B. and forceably raped her during the
night. In the morning, H.B. tried to force Ç.B. to go a gynacologist but
she resisted, at which point H.B. said "I have photos and I'll show them
to your family. I'll kill you!" In court, Ç.B. explained that H.B. came to
the animal hospital at night and said "let's have dinner together."
During the meal, H.B. drank alcohol and tried to get Ç.B. to imbibe,
as well. When she resisted, H.B. grabbed her by her hair and put the
bottle of alcohol into her mouth, tried to kiss her and slapped her around.
Continuing, Ç.B. said in court that "he forced himself on me, shaking
my head back and forth. I fell down and he smacked my head
against the floor 3-4 times. When I woke up it was 0130 and he wasn't
there, but his partner S.D. was. I said 'what happened to me?' and S.D.
replied 'some things happened between you. Collect yourself and we'll
talk. Your mother called. H.B. opened the clinic and he's looking at a
patient. Call your mother so you feel better.' My mother called me
and I told her I was alright and hung up. Then I threw up and fainted
again. When I woke up at 0730 by head was spinning and my eyes
were blurry. My head and back hurt."
...and emulated his idol.
In the morning, Ç.B. told S.D. that H.B. had raped her but S.D.
advised "don't file a complaint. Such things will only cause problems
for you. H.B. will take you to a doctor." S.D. then took Ç.B. by the
arm to H.B., who was waiting in a car. In the car, Ç.B. fainted again
and when she came to H.B. said to her "I didn't do anything to you.
We'll go to a gynacologist. When Ç.B. resisted, H.B threatened to
show the pictures he had taken of her. H.B. then took Ç.B. to a
gynacologist he knows. Ç.B. told the gynacologist that H.B. had
raped her but the gynacologist advised "use the medicine I'm giving
you. Even if you file a complaint nothing will come of it." (!)
As for H.B., he claimed to be the victim of a conspiracy (!) but Judge
Sezer Söylemez was having none of it and sent H.B. to jail.
