Dog Rapist Buys Dog Food to Avoid Penalty

In Sariyer, Istanbul, Selim Ö. (56) raped a Golden Retriever breed
dog named 'Hamur' (!).  When the dog was found by its owner
Berna E., Hamur could not walk. 

On the morning of 8 September 2018, Berna hanım put her dog
outside the house.  At around noon, Berna hanım saw that Hamur
was lying on the ground in the garden and that someone was
running away from the dog.  On closer inspection, Berna hanım
noticed that there was blood on the ground and that Hamur could not
stand up.  A veterinarian confirmed that Hamur had been raped and
police soon identified Selim Ö. as the rapist.

Selim Ö. gave a statement and was released.  A case against him
was opened by the public prosecutor for "damage to property" (!).
The case then went to mediation and Berna hanım noted that if
Selim Ö. bought 50 packages of dog food for street dogs she
would agree to drop the charges.  For his part, Selim Ö. said that
he could only manage to buy 25 packages but Berna hanım was
willing to agree to this so Selim Ö. sent 2,500 TL (about $500)
for the dog food to Berna hanım's bank account.


Sarıyer is in the middle of the map, on the European side of
the Bosphorus.
